The Prime Minister of Serbia, Prof. Dr. Đuro Macut, laid a wreath today at the Jajinci Memorial Park, on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Holocaust, genocide, and other victims of fascism during World War II.
The commemoration was attended by representatives of state institutions, religious communities, and public life.
Wreaths at the Jajinci Memorial Park were also laid by representatives of the City of Belgrade, the Belgrade municipality of Voždovac, the Museum of Genocide Victims, the Memorial Center "Staro sajmište", the Federation of Jewish Communities, the Jewish Community of Belgrade, the National Council of the Roma National Minority, associations for the promotion of anti-fascist traditions, and the diplomatic corps in Serbia.
This day is commemorated in memory of April 22, 1945, when the last surviving prisoners broke out of the Jasenovac camp - one of the most horrific symbols of suffering during World War II.
