Today, on the occasion of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, commemorative ceremonies were held dedicated to preserving the culture of remembrance and honoring the victims of the Holocaust.
The state ceremony took place at the Menorah in Flames monument, created by sculptor Nandor Glida, in Dorćol. During this event, Aron Fuks, president of the Jewish Community of Belgrade, and Jozef Baruhović, a Holocaust survivor, laid a wreath in memory of the victims. The Serbian Jewish Singing Society “Hor Braća Baruh,” conducted by Stefan Zekić, performed appropriate pieces. A prayer for the victims was recited by Rabbi Isak Asiel. Nemanja Starović, Minister for European Integration, addressed the attendees on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of state institutions, religious communities, the diplomatic corps, and numerous citizens.

Afterward, the Jewish Community of Belgrade held a commemoration at the site of the former camp Topovske šupe, one of the first camps in the occupied territory of Serbia, where tribute was paid to the victims of suffering and persecution. Aron Fuks, president of JOB, recited a prayer for the victims, while Davor Salom, a prominent member of JOB, spoke about the history and significance of this location.
