Radionica: Exploring the SmallBuddy Workshop - Tools for Preventing and Tackling Stereotypes in the Classroom

This interactive workshop introduces the SmallBuddy program—a 90-minute educational session developed by the Haver Foundation in Hungary to help students aged 11–14 reflect on stereotypes, prejudices, and issues of social inclusion and exclusion. Together, we will explore the origins and goals of SmallBuddy, the reasons behind its development, and how its structure—blending playful activities with guided reflection—fosters critical thinking and empathy in students.

Participants will gain insight into the workshop’s methodology, experience selected activities firsthand, share feedback from teachers and students who have participated in the program, and engage in discussions about how this approach could be adapted to, and resonate within, their teaching contexts.

Radionica: "Recipes for Survival" – A Renewed Approach to Holocaust Education

Ova radionica namenjena je svima koje interesuje obrazovanje o Holokaustu. Mesta za ovu radionicu su ograničena.

“Recipes for Survival” is one of the Hungarian Haver Foundation’s most successful non-formal educational projects. What makes it unique is its perspective: it presents the Holocaust through the lens of an individual human life. This approach allows for thought-provoking questions about history and human nature, making connections that resonate not only with the context of the Holocaust but also, to a certain extent with students’ own experiences.

Recently, the workshop underwent a comprehensive renewal process, prompted by the growing need to engage today’s students with more interactive and innovative methods. This updated version will enter a pilot phase in Hungarian schools starting in September.

In this session, we will walk participants through the newly developed version of the workshop. Afterwards, we’ll engage in a discussion about the possible aims and methods of Holocaust education in 2025, reflect on the workshop’s content and approach, and explore how relevant and adaptable it feels within participants' own educational contexts as trainers of practicing teachers in Serbia.

Predavanje: Past, Present, and Future of Jewish Life and Education Against Antisemitism in Hungary: Reflections Through 23 Years of the Haver Foundation

Ovo predavanje otvoreno je za sve zainteresovane i širu javnost.

This lecture explores the current state of antisemitism in Hungary within its historical and social context, while also introducing the complexity and resilience of Jewish life today, where a vibrant community continues to thrive. Drawing on both sociological research and firsthand experience, the talk presents the work of the Haver Foundation—an educational organization that has been operating for over 23 years to combat antisemitism through dialogue-based learning in Hungarian schools. By connecting academic insight with practical civil society engagement, the lecture offers a special perspective on antisemitism and Jewish identity, both in theory and in practice, within the current Hungarian context.
